Henri Cartier-Bresson

[Selection of "Women"]

[Selection of "Couples"]

Exposition "Henri Cartier-Bresson à vue d'oeil" @Maison Européenne de la Photographie

He was always there.
There, at Gandhi's funeral in India in 1948. There at the last stage of the Chinese civil war in 1949. There in the first 6 months of the Maoist people's republic in China. There for shooting the first "free" photographs of the post-war Soviet Union. There.

I love the idea of the defining moment - the concept he described as the time when you take a great photograph, capturing the essence of something.
And this is what I am trying to do: discover the defining moments around me. Or better yet, discover in everything a defining moment.

And one of my favourites... maybe because it's a beautiful couple, maybe because it's from beautiful Romania, maybe both...
