Pic your choice and half the story's done!

There was a time, long, long ago, when fireflies were still leading the night and the mornings were still counted for half the day. There was a time when that inn was still there, on the crossroads between the stairway to heaven paved with good intentions and the path to here. They called it "l'Auberge de l'Inoubliable"... 
And as I was told, it was the beautiful innkeeper that kept the candles alive. It was because of her and her never ending dreams that the three witches never could enter the heart of the wanderers. Or at least for as long as she was there, because afterwards... but that's another story; a heartbreaking one. Anyway, it was not really her beauty, even though they all thought so, but her wisdom and her warmth that were strong with her. Yeah, a witch too, I might say... a different one. The kind that sees drunks as poets and losers as lonely ones, hores as women searching their soulmates and jerks as bohems... and cowards as independent ones, of course! You know, that kind... my kind!...
And then, one day that started with a cold morning but that followed a lucid night, a dancing bear knocked at the back door...
